Who I Work With
-
Adolescents and young adults seeking to find the right medication regimen to support their mental wellbeing
High school and college/graduate school students navigating the bumpy transition into "adulting"
Individuals of all backgrounds and identities struggling with various mood, anxiety, and trauma-spectrum disorders
Folks who find their "self-medicating" and other distraction habits are no longer helpful (e.g., increasing use of cannabis or caffeine or herbal remedies, excessive doom-scrolling/social media, using food for comfort, and more)
If you are seeking care for a younger child, or are an older-ish adult seeking care for yourself and believe we would be a good fit, please don't hesitate to reach out anyway.
-
Depressive and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, trauma-and-related stressor disorders (including PTSD and complex or developmental trauma), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders, dissociative disorders, and others.
-
Clinical diagnoses aside, I have a great deal of passion working with those who identify with the following:
individuals struggling with self-esteem, including body image, or self-confidence
populations who have experienced any form of abuse and/or trauma
persons who have experienced stigma, either due to their mental health difficulties or how they identify
first-generation folks, or anyone who grew up in emotionally invalidating environments
people who struggle with articulating what exactly is "wrong" (we can use various creative methods to help identify problems and set specific treatment goals)
individuals who are (or work with) healers looking to supplement their existing complementary and alternative therapies (e.g., energy work, mind-body medicine, and more) with psychiatric intervention
Additional symptoms/difficulties:
sleep disturbance, including insomnia & nightmares
concentration & focus, procrastination
anxiety & worry, panic attacks
self-harm & suicidal thoughts
frequent crying and/or mood swings
intrusive/unwanted thoughts
hearing voices & other strange experiences
and others

After you complete your intake paperwork through the Patient Portal, we will schedule your initial meeting which is tailored to meet you or your child's individualized needs.
Adult patients (18 and older) will have a 75-minute initial intake consultation. For minor patients (17 and younger), the initial intake consultation totals 90 minutes, which includes time alone and together with the parent/guardian, unless alternative arrangements are clinically indicated.
If presenting concerns are complex, additional evaluation time may extend to a second appointment.
During the intake appointment, we review your history, current challenges and strengths, and collaboratively establish short-term and long-term treatment goals. We will discuss the potential role of medication in your treatment and together review the risks, benefits, side effects, and efficacy of these medications. It is common during the initial visit to review or request past records, relevant lab work, or referrals for counseling or therapy.
-
After one or more intake appointments, we will continue meeting for either brief or extended follow up appointments, depending on treatment needs.
Basic Follow Up Appointment: Up to 25 minutes, follow up, and medication check. Review of systems, assessments, discussion of plan and treatment goals, brief counseling and psychoeducation. Refills and referrals can be provided during the appointment.
Extended Follow Up Appointment: Up to 45 minutes. Same description as above with additional time to discuss significant medication adjustments, extended counseling/psychoeducation and/or to allow for parent/guardian to join the appointment to review care options. Refills and referrals can be provided during the appointment.
-
Depending on you or your child's needs, we may also schedule sessions which include supportive counseling, learning and practicing various coping skills and techniques, engaging in expressive arts activities, reviewing psychoeducation with other members of your support/family system, and more. A major benefit of working with a provider in private practice is that we have the flexibility to create a customized treatment plan and try new approaches to figure out what works well for you.
